Beautiful Miyajima !

The day we arrived at Hiroshima,we set off for a trip to Miyajima, a small island less than an hour outside the city of Hiroshima. Miyajima is most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on top of the water. The sight is ranked as one of Japan’s three best views. Also,it is famous for the Itsukushima Shrine whose main buildings are also build above water. We reached at the Miyajimaguchi station just in time for a ferry to the island. We had a map which depicted a walking trail of around 3 hrs all around the island but we decided to visit the main attractions only to save time.We started walking towards the shrine..on way greeted by many deers !! Have a look..

Walking along we came across this entry gate for the Shrine…

And just a little further we had a view of the famous Torri gate to our right…Though the view wasn’t as same as with high tide but nonetheless its was beautiful !!

We enjoyed the view sitting there for sometime.Suddenly,i found something rubbing against me..and jumped up to find a deer tugging at my tee and wouldn’t just let go !! We just tried to gather our things frantically because it was so eager to chew away my clothes,my sandals,my handbag and the pamphlets in it !! Once we could set ourselves free of this lovely deer..we moved ahead towards the shrine..

When we went inside the shrine…we were instantly in awe of the wooden platforms…the bright orange pillars..the vast expanse…the whole Japanese feel to it…here are some more views.. enjoy !

After that we went for the ropeway for Mt.Misen ,the highest mountain on the island. On the way we came across some souvenir shops and some more, smaller shrines.

Now,the ropeway and the absolutely breathtaking view thereafter…

Then while heading back to the station we came across this 5-storey pagoda.. and wrapped up our trip as the deers too started getting laid back  🙂
