Travelling through a train or just walking by the streets I have come across these square patches of land with small stone pillars many a times but it was quite sometime before i realized these are actually the cemeteries.Yeah they can be found right in the middle of the crowded city or simply just anywhere! I had always wondered and wanted to know more about these and this series of articles on JapanTourist, the travel site of the Metropolis magazine, helps me understand these better now.
Interesting! A friend and I walked through a cemetery in Kyoto earlier in the year. The graves really were quite beautiful.
Yeah they have this serenity about them located amidst residential dwellings or right by the rail tracks…
edit: Not to mention the land that the cemetery was on. There’s a lot more natural, uncut nature around I felt than in a cemetery back home.
